Your gift helps create jobs and change the lives of people who face the greatest barriers to work.
Think about that moment where someone who is down and out asks for help. You may be walking down the street and someone with a sign and an outstretched hand asks for money.
Think about the last time you heard about the violent death of a young person involved in the drug trade.
You know that a few dollars from your pocket won't solve these problems. And even if it did, there will be others.
These are big problems; they require big solutions.
REDF offers an effective way to move the most disconnected and disadvantaged people into jobs and out of poverty.
By applying business acumen, REDF offers new, real, effective solutions to a deeply seeded social problem.
We have seen the power of a job. We know that with the right support people can and do change their lives. As Father Boyle, who runs a leading social enterprise in Los Angeles, has put it, "There's nothing that can stop a bullet like a job."
Our growing community of multi-year donors is fueling a new phase of REDF's work and will create jobs for at least 1,000 more people over the three next years. Building on our prior work, this means that by the end of 2010, close to 5,000 people will have had the chance to break into the workforce and change their lives.
REDF makes sure all of its philanthropic dollars are used efficiently to achieve results. We're creating a new system, not just one-off job opportunities. We're focused on measuring outcomes, so we only pursue those strategies that have a high degree of impact.
Please make a tax-deductible gift online using our secure system.
Thanks to the support of our board, 100% of your donation to REDF goes directly to programs and services. REDF is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Your gift supports people in need and the nonprofits that support and employ them.
