It’s In The Bag – A Special Offer for REDF Donors
REDF has partnered with Rickshaw Bagworks and Ashbury Images to create a limited edition, eco-friendly messenger bag and other products specially designed for REDF supporters. Donate today and choose an acknowledgement gift that’s not only stylish and functional, but is creating jobs for people overcoming life’s toughest challenges.
The bag’s custom artwork was screen printed by Ashbury Images, an apparel screen printing business serving the promotional needs of corporate customers nationwide. REDF has supported Ashbury Images—and over 40 other nonprofit social enterprises—with funding and business assistance as a way creating jobs for young people and adults with histories of homelessness, incarceration and severe mental illness.
One of these people is Ramses Peña. Before he started working at Ashbury Images, Ramses was hanging out with the wrong crowd, getting in fights, and breaking the law. He was incarcerated several times. Determined to turn his life around, Ramses began a six-month internship at Ashbury Images. He worked hard, coming early and staying late. He was offered a permanent job when his internship ended. Now Ramses works forty hours a week. He wants to learn as much as he can. “I stay focused on work,” he says. “I want to concentrate on the positive and see how far I can go.” [Click here to view other success stories]
