Top MBA Students Intern at REDF

A few of the 2009 Farber interns enjoying our annual "Farberque"

For the 14th year, MBA candidates from top business schools across the country will spend their summer conducting feasibility assessments, developing marketing plans and otherwise analyzing opportunities for social enterprise growth and success through REDF’s Farber Program.

This year’s cohort includes students from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, Stanford Graduate School of Business, University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, Harvard Business School and Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.  The six Farber Interns will be placed at REDF and REDF’s portfolio of social enterprises for 10 weeks this summer. The group includes Levi Goertz from Haas who will be working with Buckelew Programs, REDF’s newest portfolio organization, on analyzing new business feasibility. “I was interested in the Farber Program after hearing about REDF’s strong reputation from previous Haas interns,” he says. “I’m excited by the challenge of figuring out how to grow a viable business that generates significant social impact – it should be enlightening to work with Buckelew staff and clients.”

The current interns were chosen from a competitive selection process that included more than 150 applicants from 35 business schools. They will join a network of nearly 100 Farber alumni. Stuart Davidson, founding supporter of the program and Vice-Chair of REDF’s Board said, “As the line between sectors blurs, our group of impressive Farber alumni are taking the knowledge they’ve gained in our program and influencing both the public and private sectors as leaders in these fields. We like to say we’re training the next generation of social entrepreneurs – and it’s true.” Stuart is Managing Partner of Labrador Ventures in Palo Alto.
