The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides immediate, effective and comprehensive employment services to men and women with recent criminal convictions. CEO has created immediate paid transitional job opportunities for thousands of people that have led to over 14,000 full-time job placements for formerly incarcerated individuals.Their program helps people acquire the workplace skills and experience that allow them to become self-sufficient, productive members of society. Headquartered in New York City, and overseeing operations there as well as in upstate New York, CEO offers employment and support services to a population that is disproportionately minority and poor. CEO’s programs have been shown by an independently conducted, random-assignment study to significantly reduce re-arrests, convictions, and re-incarcerations among individuals recently released from prison – outcomes described by the evaluators as rarely seen in rigorous studies. CEO is in the process of exporting its model to serve communities across the nation, beginning with the San Francisco Bay Area. CEO produced a project called "Released" following nine individuals creating a new future for themselves after being released from prison or jail in New York City. To see videos and to learn more about these individuals visit http://ceoworks.org/released/. REDF’s work with CEO REDF is assisting CEO to build and sustain Golden State Works (GSW) Oakland, an implementation of CEO’s model by a third party non-profit provider in Oakland, California. REDF is providing direct business assistance as CEO expands to other parts of California, and providing resources for employee supports to adults over age 25. |
