www.coalitionrcd.org CRCD serves a 15 square-mile area immediately south of downtown LA, where 36% of families have income below poverty. CRCD’s target population consists of low-income young people age 17-25 who have multiple barriers to employment such as: lack of basic skills, lack of high school diploma/GED, history of involvement with the justice system, history of foster care, and lack of stable housing. To address neighborhood needs, CRCD leads initiatives and operates programs to revitalize the neighborhood and improve the quality of life including neighborhood beautification, youth workforce development, housing and economic development, and a sustainable communities initiative. CRCD has experience with social enterprise through the work of its subsidiary CRCD Enterprises, which employs at-risk young adults in South Los Angeles on work such as graffiti removal, painting, and maintenance. REDF’s work with CRCD REDF will assist CRCD Enterprises to refine and grow its business lines. Additionally, REDF will help CRCD leverage its existing workforce development programs, integrate them more formally across CRCD Enterprises, and continue to foster innovative partnerships with YouthBuild and LA Trade Tech College to create more job opportunities and improved pathways to careers. |
